Felt FAQ.
Everything you need to know about playing free online Texas Hold’em with friends on Felt.
Is Felt free?
Yes. Felt is free to use. There are no accounts, no deposits, no real money, and no in-app purchases. You play with chips that have no monetary value.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Felt uses anonymous browser sign-in. You enter a display name and start playing — no email, no password, no verification.
Can I play real-money poker on Felt?
No. Felt is play-money only. It's designed for casual games between friends, not gambling. There is no way to deposit, win, or withdraw real money.
How many players can join a table?
A Felt table seats 2 to 9 players. Heads-up (2-player) games work the same as a full ring, with the dealer posting the small blind.
How do I invite friends to a table?
When you host a new table, Felt generates a 6-character code. Share the code or the table link with your friends. They open the link in their browser, enter a name, and join.
What devices does Felt work on?
Felt runs in any modern browser — desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone. There's no app to download. The layout adapts automatically to your screen.
Can I play 1-on-1 poker with one friend?
Yes. Felt supports heads-up Texas Hold'em (2 players). In heads-up, the dealer posts the small blind and acts first pre-flop, then last on every subsequent street.
What are the blinds?
Every Felt table uses a fixed small blind of 5 chips and a big blind of 10 chips. The starting stack is configurable from 500 to 100,000 chips when you create the table.
How is the deck shuffled?
Each hand is shuffled server-side using a cryptographically secure random source. Hole cards are stored privately per player and only revealed at showdown.
What happens if a player loses connection mid-hand?
Their hand continues. If it becomes their turn while they're disconnected, the table waits for them to reconnect. They can refresh and resume from where they left off.
Can players join mid-game?
Yes. New players sit out the current hand and join the table on the next deal with the configured starting stack.
How are side pots handled when someone goes all-in?
Felt builds side pots automatically. If a short stack goes all-in for fewer chips than the current bet, the bigger stacks contest a separate side pot beyond the all-in amount.
What is Texas Hold'em poker?
Texas Hold'em is the world's most popular poker variant. Each player receives two private hole cards and shares five community cards dealt over four betting rounds — the flop (3 cards), the turn (1 card), and the river (1 card). The player who makes the best five-card hand using any combination of their hole cards and the community cards wins the pot.
What are the poker hands in order from best to worst?
From strongest to weakest: Royal flush, Straight flush, Four of a kind, Full house, Flush, Straight, Three of a kind, Two pair, One pair, High card. See the full hand rankings page for details and examples.
How do I host an online poker game with friends?
On Felt: enter your name, choose a starting stack, and click 'Host a new table'. You'll get a 6-character code. Share that code or the table URL with your friends. When everyone has joined, click 'Deal' to start the first hand. No accounts or downloads needed.
Can I play poker on iPhone or Android?
Yes. Felt runs in the mobile browser on any smartphone — iOS Safari, Chrome for Android, and others. The layout adjusts automatically to fit smaller screens. There's no app to install.
What happens if the host leaves the game?
The host has no special in-game role once the table is running — any player can deal the next hand. If the browser tab closes mid-hand, the hand plays out with the remaining players. The table persists until it becomes inactive.
How do blinds work in poker?
Blinds are forced bets posted before cards are dealt to ensure there's always something to play for. The player immediately left of the dealer button posts the small blind; the next player posts the big blind (twice the small blind). On Felt, blinds are 5 and 10 chips. Preflop, the player left of the big blind acts first.
Is play-money poker the same as real-money poker?
The rules and hand rankings are identical. The main difference is stakes: with play money there's no financial risk, so players tend to be looser and bluff more. Felt is purely for fun — it's designed for casual home-game vibes, not grinding or gambling.
How long does a game of Texas Hold'em take?
A single hand takes 1–3 minutes. A casual session with friends typically runs 30 minutes to a couple of hours depending on how many players, how fast people act, and whether you stop at a set time or play until one person has all the chips.
